Why ‘Plant Food’?
Plant the right seeds.
We and our communities can grow the same way our food does — by planting the right seeds, protecting them, and creating the conditions they need to thrive. What seeds are we planting in our lives and our communities? Will they nourish us when they grow? We need to plant the right seeds; we need to plant food.
Eat well, feel good.
Plant Food Farm is based around the idea that a strong network of small, independent, local vegetable farms is the healthiest, most sustainable, and most resilient way to feed our communities. Plant-based diets are widely associated with beneficial health outcomes, and they are the most efficient way to provide all the nutrition we need using a fraction of the space and resources that animal agriculture does. Eating plant (based) food is good for us, our communities, and the planet.
A feast for our food.
Plants need to eat too. There is a complex web of soil micro-organisms that exchange nutrients from the soil for sugars produced by growing plants. Thoughtful crop rotations and minimizing tillage protect the soil food web and ensure there’s plenty of plant food in the soil, organically! Regenerative farming means caring for the whole ecosystem, not just the parts of it that directly benefit us.
