Updated for the 2025 season!

I am offering a pilot weekly delivery program for residents of Munjoy Hill in Portland. Get fresh organic vegetables brought to your doorstep weekly, and only buy what you want. No hassle, no commitment.

Munjoy Mobile Market

Text based, commitment-free weekly delivery program on Munjoy Hill

Here’s how it works…

  • Step 1

Text START to (207) 835-3242 to join the Munjoy mobile market list. You can stop at any time, and there’s no commitment to buy a certain amount or to buy something every week.

For more information or to sign up by email, reach out to mike@plantfoodmaine.com.

  • Step 2

You’ll get a text message every Monday letting you know what vegetables and herbs are ready to harvest.

If you’d like to buy something that week, reply YES to the text message before the end of the day on Wednesday. If you reply NO or don’t reply at all, I’ll skip you that week.

  • Step 3

On your delivery day, I’ll stop by between 5 and 8 PM with everything harvested fresh, pre-washed, and packaged in my truck. Buy whatever you think looks good, and thats it! I’ll text you the following Monday for the next week’s harvest.

Text STOP at any time to remove yourself from the delivery list and stop receiving weekly texts. Text START again at any time to rejoin.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • I hate carrying loose change, and I've found many people I talk to feel the same. To make things simpler, all my prices include sales tax and are based on 25 cent increments. When you shop with cash, you'll only have to worry about quarters, and you can easily use last week's change for this week's purchase.

I am interested in feedback on this pricing model. Reach out and let me know what you think!

  • Unfortunately, since I am the only delivery driver and deliveries may be different each week, I can't give you an exact time in advance, but it will most likely be about the same time each week. I will text you when I am one stop away so you have a few minutes' notice.

  • Since the harvest will be different each week and I won't know ahead of time what you'll buy, arranging contactless drop-off for a custom weekly order won’t be possible. If you wont be around to shop each week, check out our Weekly Harvest Box!

  • Freshness is one of the main benefits of buying local and something I'll always be completely transparent about. Running a farm single-handed is tough, and I have to balance my workload each week to keep up.

Most crops are harvested on delivery day or the day before. Salad greens are always harvested within a week of delivery, and usually within a day. Storage crops (onions, potatoes, winter squash, etc.) may be stored for longer. All crops are stored in a 24-hr temperature-controlled setting to ensure freshness and safety.

  • After harvest, all crops are washed prior to sale or storage. The process differs for each type of vegetable, but you should expect the same (or better) level of care as the produce at your local grocery store. In addition, since the farm's entirely vegan and organic there's no risk of chemical or livestock residues.

With that being said, you should always wash fresh produce prior to eating it. I have to work efficiently when I'm harvesting, washing, and packing, and it's always possible for me to miss a little soil here and there.

  • Thorn is a very good boy, and he deserves all of the treats you can spare. He is a rescue and has always been timid, but maybe if enough of us pitch in we can convince him that strangers are often friendlier than we expect!
